If you are a registered parishioner with a baptized child who has reached the age of 7 (typically 2nd grade), we would like to extend an invitation to you to register for Sacramental Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion.
The Catholic Church believes and teaches that parents are the primary religious educators of the child. Parents, you are your child’s first image of God, and your child is looking to you to learn the place God and faith has in his/her life. Therefore, preparation for the Sacraments consists of six parent/child sessions throughout the school year, including two retreats.
Children must first be enrolled in either St. Mary PSR or a Catholic day school (Seton). The six Sacramental Preparation Sessions are different from, and in addition to, your child’s classroom faith formation. All St. Mary children, PSR and Catholic day school, are prepared for and celebrate the sacraments together.
Sacramental registration must be completed online at the parish website from July 1 – September 15, 2017. The cost is $55/child. Contact Lisa Davidson if you need scholarship assistance. Children will not be able to enter the program after October 19, 2017.
First Reconciliation will be celebrated on Saturday, January 27, 2018, 10:00 am or 11:30 am.
First Communion is offered at the parent’s choice of Sunday (& Saturday evening) Masses on April 28-29 and May 5-6, 2018. One large group First Communion Mass will be celebrated the morning of Saturday, May 12, 2018. Parents can register for their choice of Mass online via Sign-Up Genius, beginning November 1, 2017.
