EDGE (6 - 8)

EDGE is a revolutionary, Catholic ministry designed to meet the educational, spiritual, emotional, and social needs of the middle school youth (grades 6,7, and 8).  EDGE goes outside the traditional classroom model in order to attend to not only the education of their minds but also the conversion of their hearts in faith.  They are taught the tenets of the faith, then shown the love of God through the Church community – all in one program.

Early adolescence is a critical and difficult time.  The operative word during this time is CHANGE! It is during this phase that many youth become leery of their faith and begin to question what they believe.  We particularly want to get them headed in the right direction on their personal spiritual journey during this time, just as they are forming more mature opinions and making decisions that will affect the rest of their lives.

In many respects, middle school youth are on the “edge” between childhood and adulthood.  In the context of faith, these youth are moving from a child-like spirituality to an independent ownership of their Catholic faith and identity.
